By 2050, diabetes is estimated to affect 853 million people, globally. This means 1 in 8 adults will be living with diabetes.

About Primary Immunodeficiencies

Primary immunodeficiencies (PID) comprises of hundreds of different types of immune system impairment. They are chronic conditions that are characterized by severe, recurrent, or persistent infections. PID may also be referred to as inborn errors of immunity (IEI).

Newborn screening programs have helped with diagnosis in recent years, but PID may not manifest until later in life, where diagnosis becomes more difficult.

It is estimated globally that about 6 million people are affected by a PID and about 70% to 90% remain undiagnosed. It can take years for adults to get the correct medical support needed for diagnosis and treatment.

One important thing to note is that these conditions struggle with getting proper awareness in both public and medical settings.
